EVB Enabling Burundi’s First Solar-Storage EV Charging Project

Demands:

Electric mobility is growing across Africa, creating increasing demand for EV charging infrastructure. In Burundi, factors such as strong solar resources, high temperatures, humidity, and limited grid stability highlight the need for reliable, renewable-powered charging solutions.

Solution:

EVB delivered an integrated solution combining DC fast charging advertising stations with energy storage. The charging stations offer up to 120 kW fast charging and feature a 43-inch display, enabling both efficient charging and added commercial value. With IP55 protection, they are designed for reliable outdoor use. A 100 kW / 230 kWh air-cooled ess to support power stability and ensure consistent charging performance.

Feedback:

The customer commented that this project marks a key milestone for EV infrastructure development in the region. It enables Burundi to establish one of East Africa’s largest fully solar-powered EV fast charging infrastructures, improving charging accessibility while demonstrating the practical potential of renewable energy in transportation.
